Fun Ford Weekend Is Back with a Bang at Bandimere.

"Thank you for bring this series back!" was the tone of the event, as racers, show car owners, and fans celebrated the return of Fun Ford Weekend to the national stage at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colorado, located just outside of Denver.

Bandimere Speedway hosted the Phil Long Ford, Fun Ford Weekend presented by JE Pistons and Roush Yates Racing in the foothills of Denver to kick off the beginning of the series under new ownership and management.



Hot new products from Ford were on display at the Phil Long Ford compound. Roush Yates, Ford Racing, off-road performance, chassis builders, car clubs, event action photos, and more were highlighted in the vendor midway.

Thornton, Colorado's Michael St. Clair went 14-0 on the day to win both Quick Ford and the 5.0 Shootout classes to highlight drag racing action. He did so driving a 1968 Mustang in the Quick Ford category, and a 1990 Mustang in the 5.0 Shootout. St. Clair was joined in the Winner's Circle by Dustin Travis of Denver.



Fans ate up the heads-up exhibitions, which included 6-second 10.5 Outlaw cars, Mountain Motor nitrous rides, and ProCharger-equipped Mustangs that showcased the Ford power with a glimpse into a new era of FFW racing.

The rich history of Ford motorsports received special treatment with the Flathead Inline Nationals. Jeff Andreen, Charles Sam Rice, and Brad Simonds Sr. won individual honors in classes that are predominately flathead Ford front-engine dragsters.



Best of Show was awarded to the 2007 grabber orange Mustang of Chris Merkel, beating out the show field of near 150 participants. A Shelby corral, restored Mustangs, street rods, modern Ford muscle, and tricked-out trucks made for a full field of Blue-Oval pride.

FFW heads next to Virginia Motorsports Park for an event on September 10th, followed by events at Palm Beach International Raceway in Jupiter, Florida (9/16-18/22), Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas (10/8), and Memphis International Raceway in Millington, Tennessee (10/15), to complete the five-event rebirth of the series in 2011.
