Fox Body HELP
« on: May 11, 2012, 09:09 PM »
Well i have a really nasty exhaust noise, it's a pop or bang. It all started when i changed to the BBK headers and a xpipe. Ever since its got a really nasty sound. I dont know what it is and ive tried everything that ive read. So any input here would be good, thanks.

you tried to see if the headers are leaking? the BBK headers have a common issue with blow out, Mr. Gasket makes a copper gasket for 302 blocks I recommend getting those and a set of the Stage 8 Fasteners put some copper seal on the threads and tighten them down from the middle out (like a head or intake) this will ensure a proper seal. Also spray deodorant (powder type women's) will help to find the leak good luck!

Am gonna slap those old headers it had, to bad there ebay headers. Am gonna see if there is a difference. Otherwise am gonna try to order those gaskets and see if it works with my BBK ones.

Yeah changed them and the gasket, normally it sounds perfect for like the first 5 minutes and after the pop starts again. It's like when i put my hand in the exhaust it feels pressured/forced. I put the donut inside the exhaust that connects to the header and nothing. I don't know what else it could be lol. am just gonna take it to a shop.

hmm x-pipe leaking... jack it up put it on stands and see if you can find it... might even be the clutch

I unbolted the xpipe and just ran it with headers, still does it. It's so loud. It quieter with the xpipe bolted. It's a shame i welded the whole exhaust. How could it be the clutch?

BBK exhaust products for Fox Bodies are notorious for bad fitament. after trying relentlessly to get the leak to stop at the ball socket I went back to my usual brand of exhaust MAC headers and h-pipe and have never had an issue with them on all of the different cars I have used them on.
