Advice on Rear End Suspension Installation
« on: February 19, 2012, 01:01 PM »
Recently I picked up some upper and lower rear control arms by Currie Enterprises and a Hotchkis pan hard bar. All of which are adjustable. They've been sitting on my floor for about a week now and I don't have much planned today so I was wondering if anybody had some advice as to the order I should install them in? Or if it really even matters.

My thought was upper control arm first because it seems to be the most difficult then lowers followed by panhard bar. Or maybe panhard, upper, then lower. I'm not entirely sure so any tips would be greatly appreciated!

It really doesn't matter as long as you don't try and do the upper and lowers at the same time. If the lowers are adjustable I recommend you do this. Remove one of the stock LCA's and set it on a bench, Put the new LCA on top of it and adjust it until the bolts slide through the new LCA and the old LCA and then tighten them. This will ensure that the length is set correctly. After you install both lCA's move onto the UCA next. Make sure you set the pinion angle if you can. Other wise, adjust the UCA to the stock length.

Thanks Marc! The advice is greatly appreciated, the one I'm most worried about installing is the upper but I've found some detailed guides that will help me through it so far.
