Killer Vintage Match Race and High Performance Ads From 1960s Drag Mags

We dove back into the BangShift east coast office archives to dig up some cool ads and match race announcements from 1960s drag mags like Drag News and other small regional publications. We have a pretty substantial collection of these things, so if you dig ‘em, let us know and we’ll keep the scans coming.



The drag papers like Drag News, Drag Times, National Dragster, and many other smaller regional publications were the drag racing internet of the day. Race results and promotional ads from tracks far and wide filled their pages and served as planning tools for racers wanting to test their mettle against the best. Stock and super stock racers had more tracks and races to choose from than there was time to race. The payouts are laughable by today’s standards, but it was real money back in the day.

These ads range from 1966 to 1969 and came out of various publications. Enjoy this walk down drag racing’s memory lane!
