Mach 1 Hood?
« on: June 10, 2012, 03:35 PM »
Sooo.  Curiosity killed the cat, and I'm looking more and more into getting a shaker system..  But I dont want my crafty hands to get ahold of a saw and destroy my hood.. so I figured I'd search around to see if the 03/04 Mach hoods would fit on my 99 with the CDC shaker kit with no problems.. but as always EVERYWHERE(that I could find) would say no then wth one person saying yes, and other places saying no with a lonewolf saying yes.  I figured I would take these matters into my own hands and ask the only people I know that could give me a straight answer 8)

So if any of you have any sort of info, it'd be much appreciated  ;D

NO  It will not fit.

But it is possible to use the OEM mach setup on your car if you are good at a little custom fab work

it wont work with that aftermarket shaker kit, there are two or three things you can do..
1. Get a stock Mach Shaker and use it on a bullet intake
2. Dummy Mount the OEM Shaker on the stock intake
3. Put Plexi Glass in the opening and do a ZR-1 Look hood (seen it and it looks sick)

Ah ok thank you guys! Haha saved me from buying a Mach hood..

What do you guys recommend I do, just cut my hood, or look into a different type hood without a shaker?

If you want the Mach look, Id say find a Mach 1 hood and real Mach shaker, then make a couple custom brackets to make it work. From what Ive heard and seen the brackets arent that hard. But the CDC kit does com with templates for making the cut so it should be pretty simple. But with the CDC kit once its done Id have a body show mold in the center piece so it doesnt look like an add on.

Ive seen a coupe people that just have the center piece paint matched rather than molded and it looks fine. I would suggest finding a used Mach hood and shaker though. There are usually a couple that will pop up on other sites for sale, including the Mach1 Registry.
