Introduce Yourself / Re: New Guy from Raleigh/NC State

Welcome to the site man!! Im from Oxford just slightly north of the capitol just past Creedmoor and Im a graphic design student attending ECU. Thats a sweet ride man and the finish in those pics is unbelievable! i wish my paint was that shiny

maybe sometime soon we can organize a photo-shoot if you're interested, I'm always looking for new places around Raleigh as well.
and i Do a little photog from time to time so maybe before i go back to Pirate Country in august we could all meet up for a cruise and shoot! maybe organize an NC RPM get together

Thanks for the compliments!  I know that area fairly well; I worked (well...co-oped) up in Creedmoor/Butner this past semester, and will be back up there again this fall.

You talk about the paint, it's ridiculous what you can do with the correct tools and chemicals (and a LOT of elbow grease) to restore a car's paint  I completely detailed my brother's '02 F-250 with over 200k miles a month or so back.  It was in awful shape.  A Porter Cable buffer, Meguair's 105/205, a decent wax, and 16 hours of work later, the paint on it looks BRAND new.  I seriously impressed myself.  I've got some pictures of it, but they're on the camera back home.  I'll post those up sometime.  I'm assuming there are some RPMers that are as into detailing as I am.

Also, I'm not far from Pirate country at all.  I'm from Williamston, just a few miles from Greenville, and have an older brother that graduated from there some years back.

Definitely!  I know I could use your expertise Harris, and from your photos Will it looks like you have the photography thing down as well.

Ha, I wish I could truthfully say that.  All of those photos were shot by a couple of friends of mine.  But they are available on a minute's notice and gladly come take photos most any time I ask.

Yep some window tint is definitely on my list of things to get.  The only thing I have done besides the rims and light tints is a CAI and the plasti-dipped panels on the rear.

And yes, I am the Jeff McCormick that works at Carmichael!  It's pretty funny that's how everyone knows who I am haha!

Ha, small world.  I'm Will N., one of the fitness center assistants.  You've been my manager a couple of times, haha.

If you ever decide to get your windows tinted, I can get you the contact info of the guy that did mine.  He is a fantastic guy (firefighter in Durham, does tint in his off-time), does a GREAT job that comes with a lifetime warranty, at an AWESOME price (~$125 when I got mine done a while back).  He is located just a bit north of Durham.  I am 100% satisfied with mine.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

Thank you Jeff for introducing him to RPM , and the amazing community we have here. That car is amazing, and I am definitely thinking that it is a  :RPMFTW:

Talk about a sleeper , and I bet many had no idea that a non PI GT would be that fast!

Hence the reason for the username and my license plate:

 :D

And also, there are other mods that have been done/planned to be done in the very near future that haven't been made public yet.  Mods that are liable to get me kicked off the track for not having a cage....

Hey Will, glad you found us!  It was I who put the card on your window, I try not to solicit too much, but your ride looks sweet and very well taken care of so I thought I would see if you were interested.  I'll make sure to say hi if I see you around campus, and maybe sometime soon we can organize a photo-shoot if you're interested, I'm always looking for new places around Raleigh as well.

That last photo is sweet, Fayetteville Street downtown, if I'm not mistaken?  I've always wanted to get a shot of my car there, but haven't gotten the opportunity to do it without holding up traffic.

Thanks man!  Your car looked good, too!  Some window tint would really compliment those smoked headlights!  What kinda mods do you have done?

Yea, that's on Fayetteville Street.  My buddy just snapped some shots as I drove in circles for a while.  Those two were just a couple of the ones that came out alright.  The two with the sun behind it were on the parking deck on the corner of Lenior and McDowell.  The first few were over on the Centennial deck.

I'd definitely be up for a photo-shoot sometime.  One of the places I still want to go is the power station on West Street, the one with the blue lights.  I've always wanted to take some pictures around that.

Also, are you the same Jeff McCormick that works at Carmichael?

Introduce Yourself / New Guy from Raleigh/NC State
« on: July 15, 2012, 08:04 PM »
Hello RPM!  My name is Will, and I'm a senior at NC State majoring in mechanical engineering.  I have an automatic silver '98 GT with way too many mods.  You may have seen me posting on other forums or on Youtube with the same username.

I found myself here as a result of a card I found on my car a few days ago.  While at work earlier this week, I was parked at the Coliseum Deck on State's campus next to an '01-'04 GT.  It was either dark shadow grey or mineral grey (couldn't tell with the limited lighting).  Either way, it was a good looking car, and I can only assume that that's who put the card in my window.

Anyways, my car.  I've always liked an all-around car, so I have a decent variety of mods.  I'll list off the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Go:
PI motor from '01 Grand Marquis
SVO supercharger with 3.3" pulley (~8 pounds of boost)
Modular Head Shop Stage II blower cams
Alcohol Injection Systems water/methanol injection
75 mm throttle body
Custom CAI
Offroad Prochamber
Flowmaster catback (2 chambers)
J-modded 4R70W with FRPP transmission cooler
Full '01 Bullitt suspension with Tokico Blues shocks/struts
SVT Focus fuel pump
39 pound 03/04 Cobra injectors
90 mm Lightning MAF sensor
SCT X3 with an awesome tune from Eric at Piedmont Custom Motorsports!

Show:
17x9 chrome Cobra R's wrapped in 275/40-17 Nitto NT555s
Clear headlights/fogs
HIDs in headlights and fog lights (6000k)
Window tint (which may or may not be legal...)
Innovate Motorsports wideband
Autometer Cobalt boost gauge
Blue LED gauge cluster
Enough wax to make Chip Foose proud   :D

So far, the best the car has gone in the 1/4 is an 11.94 @ 118.40 mph, with a 1.78 60'.  This was at full weight (3600+ pounds), on the stock converter, with the stock 3.27 rear gears, and on Nitto NT555R drag radials.

Since I've already seen a few of you like pictures, here's a few relatively recent ones:

And my personal favorite to date:

I haven't detailed the car in close to a year now, and I just recently got a Porter Cable buffer and some nice Meguiar's detailing compounds/polishes.  So my hope is to get the car detailed sometime soon and have another photo-shoot and get some cool new pictures around Raleigh.

Here's a couple of videos of my car as well:

Idle clip with the cams, plus a few WOT pulls:
SVO Supercharger and MHS Blower Cams - Idle and WOT Pulls

And a couple of videos from over a year ago before I had the PI motor, cams, or methanol:
Up Against a Kenne Bell SRT-8 Challenger
My 98 GT and Joe's Bullitt
12 Second Pass in a Supercharged 98 Mustang GT

Also hoping to get a few videos of it running in the 11s this fall once it cools down some.

Anyways, it's good to be on-board here.  Looking forward to looking around and finding some new cars to oogle over.   :occasion14:
