RPM Exclusive Featured Member's Ride "Team Wicked" - Rob Combs 2002 Mustang GT
By Scott Jensen / RPM

Rob's Mustang started out as a stock 2002 Ford Mustang GT with 56,000 Miles on it. But without taking any time to enjoy it "stock" the modifications started instantly. The car was fully loaded with a 5 speed transmission, cruise control and leather interior.

The Modifications
First on this list was handling, even though it was good from factory Rob had to make it better. First step was Eibach springs and Energy Suspension rack bushings. Then the next step was to get the stock 8.8 solid real axel out and a Mustang Cobra IRS set up out of a 2001 Cobra. Next on the list were tires and wheels. He chose the FR500 style 18" rims and BF Goodrich tires.

After the handling was addressed, ROb added a strut tower brace and then moved on to the brakes. For braking he installed cobra front and rear calipers as well as rotors bumping the rotor size to 11" rear and 13" in the front. Now that the car can stop it was time for more power - a Vortech Supercharger.

Interior Modifications
Next on the list was to address the shifter and interior. First was the Steeda Tri-Ax shifter for more precise shifting and better feel over all. Then Rob moved on to the trim and dash. This came out of a 03 Mach 1 all dark charcoal gray buttoned up with the silver gauge bezel and dash trim. Then he installed a Clarion DVD double din player to complete the overall look. Last was the 01 cobra Gauge cluster with white face and 160 MPH speedometer as well as a dash pod with autometer Boost and Oil gauges.

Now it looked good but it wasn't complete so Rob modded the cluster to accept blue Led light bulbs to make it unique. Next on the list is seats, gears and a external auxiliary fuel cell for extra mileage between stops.

Let me know if you need help revising the original article. Or maybe we should make a new thread for the revisions.
I want a car so violent that the mere thought of full throttle would cause a heart attack. That actually going wide open throttle in would result in nothing less than instant death!
