Craiglist Find: 2005 Shelby Terligua Racing Team V6 Performance Pack

Back in 2005 when the S197 Mustang we know and love today debuted it came with a 305hp 4.6L V8 under the hood. The little brother to that V8 was the V6 packing 4.0L with an iron block and heads and putting out a tepid 202hp at 5,250 rpm and 235 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 RPM. Just as a lot of 2005 and up S917 GT cars went on to get modded for more performance, a good number of the V6 cars were hopped up as well.

One of the more expensive packages that you could add to your V6 Mustang came from Shelby. The special Shelby Terlingua Mustang package turned up at the 2007 SEMA Show for the first time and could be applied to any model S197 V6 Mustang. The package came in two levels with the base adding $7,995 or more to the base price of about $18,000 for a V6 mustang. The base pack was accompanied by a performance pack version that included Ford Racing Performance kit, dual exit exhaust, Ford Racing Suspension kit, 18-inch 5-spoke wheels, a fiberglass hoof and a special sticker package.

What set the performance pack apart from the base pack was the addition of a Paxton supercharger blowing 6-psi down the V6′s throat. The price of the performance pack added $18,995 to the base V6 and landed the buyer 375hp. By my estimation that would have an investment of roughly $37,000 in a new V6 Mustang and the Shelby aftermarket package. One of these rare Terlingua Performance Pack cars has turned up on Craigslist with 19,000 miles on the odometer. The big rub, the seller is asking $79,999. I think that is at least twice, what the car is worth. What do you think?

I don't car how rare it is... I would take that 80k and buy a GT500 or Boss 302.

you could, but you wouldn't have a Terlingua. You could by a used Viper and still not have a Terlingua Mustang.

I'm gonna have to concur with this... I wouldn't pay double what a car is worth from the factory... Unless it was a classic Mustang with a full restoration on it. (Show room quality)
