One-off 2013 Shelby GT500 to be auctioned off for charity at second annual “Get Your Heart Racing” fundraiser

The Henry Ford Health System has announced that they will auction off a one-off 2013 Shelby GT500 at the second annual “Get Your Heart Racing” fundraiser at Ford’s Dearbon test track this coming September. A creation of Melvin Betancourt, a designer at Ford, the special GT500 will feature a white exterior with contrasting white graphics, white 20-inch wheels, and white leather Recaro seats with black stitching. Under the hood will be the all new supercharged 5.8-liter V8 producing 662 horsepower and 631 lb-ft torque. Betancourt credits the Henry Ford Hospital for saving his life after he was diagnosed with an aortic dissection and underwent open heart surgery a little more than a decade ago.

This isn’t the first time that the Henry Ford Health System has auctioned off a car for charity. Last year a custom School Bus Yellow 2012 Mustang Boss 302 inspired by Parnelli Jones’ 1970 Trans-Am winning race car went to the highest bidder, raising $300,000 for the Edith and Benson Ford Heart & Vascular Institute. Proceeds from this year’s auctions will once again be donated to the institute.

In addition to the auction the event will include a track event and pit party, with the proceeds from the ticket sales also going to the charity.
