As we know Ford is planning to make the upcoming 2015 Mustang a global player, the stage is being set around the world now so that when it comes, the dealers will be ready.

Case in point, Ford today is launching the current 2013 Mustang as a regular imported production model in Philippines. There, the Mustang will initially be available in both the 3.7 liter V6 Premium and the 5.0 liter Mustang V8 GT Premium.

There is no word yet on whether the BOSS 302 or Shelby GT-500 Mustangs will be exported to the Philippines yet, however market forces will likely determine the long term plans there.

With the cars beginning to arrive in September, the 2013 Mustang is the fourth vehicle Ford has launched in the Philippines this year. While Ford has been a player in the country for decades, much of the product mix has been Asian sourced models built in the region only.

Ford also plans to import the Ford Explorer 2.0-liter with EcoBoost and all-new Ford Focus global car that launched here last year.

“The introduction of the iconic Ford Mustang follows our ongoing commitment to continue bringing world-class vehicles to the Philippines,” said Randy Krieger, president, Ford Group Philippines. “We’re confident the Mustang will be an immediate and long-lasting success in the Philippines, attracting many new loyal customers who will be absolutely thrilled to own this fantastic car.”

By making inroads into smaller global markets now with the current Mustang, Ford will have the stage set for April of 2014 when they plan the official launch of the 2015 Mustang. Having the local populations more familiar with the Mustang before the big one comes will be key to a big bang for the 2015.

I don't think Mustangs for everyone is such a bad idea!
I want a car so violent that the mere thought of full throttle would cause a heart attack. That actually going wide open throttle in would result in nothing less than instant death!
