Our trip to the track last night
« on: July 22, 2012, 11:59 AM »
We had a wonderful time at Lassiter Mountain Raceway Park last night which is a 1/8 th mile track. The traction was not all that great because it rained on and off all day Saturday and the humidity was very high, lots of moisture in the air. I managed to run in the 7.80 range most of the night at over 93 mph. My drag radials spun and my 60 ft. time ranged from 1.90 to 2.10 with a couple of passes in the left lane spinning at half track. Here are a few vids of the fun !

We have a couple of 1/4 mile tracks in Alabama Kits but they are pretty far away. I too would love to see what my RS3 could do in the 1/4 as my 60 Ft. times suck but my car pulls very hard after that. Getting out of the hole with a suspension designed for a road course is not easy but we still had fun. Did you hear, I had my own cheering squad during a couple of my races ? :)

Great runs, and can I ask what wheels your drag radials are mounted on?
I want a car so violent that the mere thought of full throttle would cause a heart attack. That actually going wide open throttle in would result in nothing less than instant death!

Yes! I heard the cheering section! It was pretty cool!  ;D The track I was at was over an hour away, but it's the only track around here. But it's so worth going to.

Thanks TBC and Kits ! One of my best friends has the 2007 Shelby GT with a 2.6 Ken Bell SC and has run his car at this track before and usually runs in the 7.60 range and the best run he made was a 8.02 running my RS3 which also ran a 8.02 but my car had a higher trap speed, 94 mph to his 88 mph. The first video is the twin 8.02 run for reference. Traction was very limited so I have hopes of running in the 7.40s with decent traction and no other changes. My end goal is 6.99 or better with a couple of other mods I have planned when the funds become available. I have a full set of machined lipped, black center FR500 replica rims germeezy1. I have never mounted tires on the front rims which are 18" X 9" and I use the rear rims for my drag radials which are 18" X 10" and the tires are BF Goodrich 295s. I know I need better tires and have been considering 18" 305 Nitto NT05 DRs, what do you guys think ?
