Weekend with John Clor - 2/3/12 and 2/4/12
« on: January 03, 2012, 08:28 PM »
Cen-Tex SVT and SMC Events is hosting 2 days of fun!!

On Friday, we are hosting a track day at Harris Hill Road in San Marcos, TX

www.harrishillroad.com

H2R is nestled in the hills of northeastern San Marcos, Texas. The course is very easily accessible, sitting approximately three miles east of IH-35, approximately 2 miles west of Texas Highway 21, and a little over 2.5 miles from the San Marcos airport.
We're right in your backyard. H2R is just 26 miles from downtown Austin and approximately 55 miles from downtown San Antonio.

The track is a 1.8-mile, 11-turn asphalt road course. The course is 36-feet wide with over 150 feet of elevation changes and a challenging mix of on and off-camber turns, including the 80-foot rise and drop of Santa Rita (Turn 4, named after the patron saint of the impossible task).

H2R operations are housed in a 6,000 square foot clubhouse overlooking 150 acres of rolling hills with a panoramic view of downtown San Marcos and Texas State University. The clubhouse is well-appointed, offering a comfortable environment where members can relax between sessions.

We offer a laid-back, friendly atmosphere whether you're a pro racer or a weekend warrior (and you'll find a little of both in our existing members), and a place where you can make new friends or run into old ones.

If you want to improve your track times or get started in road racing, this is the place to do it. Groups will be decided on experience. There will be a mandatory driver's meeting along with basic beginner course for those that have never been on the track before along with instructors.

What you will need: All you need is your car in good working condition (check your tire pressures and fluids, brakes in good working order because you will need them, battery hold down strap is good, etc) and long cotton pants and cotton long sleeve shirt. If you have a helmet, bring it along. If not, the track will be happy to provide one for you.

And you are saying, "Great, but what about the cost"? Here is is folks...$150/person which includes lunch. If you are part of a couple in which both will be participating, you get a discounted rate of $225. If you bring your spouse or someone else to watch you, it will be $10/person to cover their lunch.

Please go to SMC Events page at www.smcevents.com, click on payments, and fill out the registration form. Space is limited so first come, first serve! Sign up today!!!!

On Saturday, on February 4th, we are honored to be hosting an event with John Clor as the main presenter.  You've read his columns in Mustang Times, Mustang Enthusiast, Mustang & Ford Trader and SVT Enthusiast magazines. You've seen him talk Mustangs on "The History Channel" and "SpeedVision." You may even own his limited-edition, sold-out hardcover history book "Mustang Dynasty." Now -- meet him in person! Noted auto journalist and author John Clor, a former SVT PR man who now manages the Enthusiast outreach program and FordPerformance.com for Ford Racing, will be giving a special presentation on SVT during our show. He'll also have copies of his exclusive 30-minute documentary "Marketing the Mustang: An American Icon" on DVD for sale, plus will be giving away a FREE ($5 value) Ford Racing 2012 Performance Parts Catalog CD and/or a FREE full-color Ford poster to every person who watches his presentation or stops by his display just to say "HI" and chat. Don't miss this chance to talk to our club's very own Ford connection from Dearborn!

The event is being held at the Embassy Suites/San Marcos Convention Center in San Marcos, Texas.  Cost will be $75/person or $100/couples.  This price includes lunch along with several vendors who will be bringing cars for demonstration as well as information.  *This price does not include hotel rooms* We will be adding the names of vendors as they are confirmed.

We will also have a show & shine afterwards so bring your cars and get them ready to show off.

Seating is limited so please make your reservations now.  Please make payment on our paypal account at Centexsvt@gmail.com or at SMC when you register for the track day.  For hotel reservations, please use the code SVT when making your reservation.  Price is reduced for a limited time for hotel rooms so make sure you make your reservations early.

Hope to see you there!!!

This sounds like it will be an amazing event, I am sure it will be a lot of fun and I wish we could get some RPM coverage of this event.
I want a car so violent that the mere thought of full throttle would cause a heart attack. That actually going wide open throttle in would result in nothing less than instant death!
